Cast Iron Chocolate Lava Cake

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar (Use Spoon Buddy for measuring)
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 cups boiling water

Instructions

Preheat your oven to at 350° F.

Melt the butter in a 12" Cast-Iron skillet. 

In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, 1 1/2 cup granulated white sugar and 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth. Spoon the batter over the melted butter, in the skillet. Rest the spoon on your Spoon Buddy once complete. 

Stir together the remaining 2 cups of sugar, and 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. Sprinkle over the batter. Slowly pour boiling water over the top of the mixture.

Transfer skillet to your oven with Pan Buddy™ and bake for 30 minutes on the grill, until set. Serve warm with ice cream.
